| Starting a Healthy Church in North America |
Together with state Southern Baptist conventions, the North American Mission
Board (NAMB) has made church planting a major priority so that Southern
Baptists now lead all denominations in new church starts.

| Should Unhealthy Churches Reproduce? |
Church Health has become the hot topic among church leaders today. And
rightly so, with statistics showing that a high percentage of North American
churches are plateaued or declining.

| Planting Churches with Evangelistic Passion: How |
Churches have traits. Some churches have the trait of love, while others
seem to have a trait for dissention. Some congregations have a passion
for evangelism, while other congregations have a passion for
entertainment.

| Lots of questions are being asked about structures, methodological models, and
definitions of words. The answers to those questions have been addressed by the
“Ecclesiological Guidelines.” |
| Assimilation and Church Planting |
For assimilation to be effectively accomplished, it must include a healthy
dosage of the doctrine of the priesthood of the believer. If a church is
to effectively add new believers to the life and work of the church, they must
be treated like people who are called of God.

| Let's Go Fly a Kite: Cooperation with the Holy Spirit |
I wonder how many church planters never use the capacity of a high definition
life God intended them to have, because they are not cooperating with the Holy
Spirit. The relationship is not properly set up.

| Contextualization Article |
We within the church planting community now speak of cultures instead of
culture. Not only are we ethnically diverse, we find diversity within people
groups themselves.

| Developing a Core Group (CPN Resource) |
The first question is "What is a core group?" The short answer
to this question is, "a core group is the new church in seed
form."

| Positioning Your Church in the New Year |
With every new year comes personal resolutions that create renewed passion,
lofty goals, and great expectations for a new beginning. We are suddenly
motivated to be a better version of ourselves, creating an impossible set of
goals and commitments that quickly fade as we face the challenges of each new
day. Download

| Stewardship |
A study conducted by NAMB in 2007 to identify the factors that helped a
church plant survive beyond five years found that church plants that have a
proactive stewardship plan enjoy a 178% greater chance of surviving beyond five
years than their non-proactive counterparts. The study also found that enacting
a positive plan for engaging new members in stewardship is critical to helping
a new congregation become financially independent. [1] Finally, the study
demonstrated that stewardship plans need to be in place early on in the life of
the church plant in order to promote financial health and
independence.

| Top Ten Ways to Connect to Your Community |
When I first stepped on the mission field as a church planter, I had
starry-eyed dreams of building a church that would impact the region, nation,
and (hopefully) the world. Even before we had our first informational meeting,
I envisioned a large worship center; thousands of people listening with
attentive hearts; hundreds of small groups; life-changing worship services;
missions sponsored by us all around the world; and an infinite number of
baptisms each week.

| Things I’ve Learned in a New Church Start |
God is constantly creating new things. One can safely say that God is in the
business of new things. In the very beginning, the book of Genesis tells us
that He created a new universe with a new environment for His new creation.

Teams are powerful and popular in the North American culture today. Some see
teams as a fad that is beginning to fade in the business sector.

| Doing the Great Commission in Your Community |
When we look at Jesus Christ’s three year ministry we see that He
engaged many kinds of lost people. First and foremost, Christ introduced the
gospel to His own people, the Hebrews. But the Gospels also record
specific kinds of people to whom Jesus introduced the kingdom. Fishermen, tax
collectors, Samaritans, rich, poor, lepers, Greeks, prostitutes, the sick,
demon-possessed, children, Pharisees, and Sadducees are some that are listed in
the Gospels. |

Looking across the web under the search, “Church Planter Training,” you will
find 923,000 choices. We have come a long way in a short period of
time. In 1993, as I started to plant my first church I could only find one
seminar on “Church Planting.” The Church Growth Movement and the books that
were written preceded the development of Church Planting. Even Basic
Training for Church Planters came out more than twelve years ago. It has
been used to train over 12,000 church planters, spouses and their teams. Now we
have come to 2010 and the release of the new Basic Training Journey for
Church Planting. |

| Church Health Survivability and Health |
Church planting is an essential part of the fabric of Kingdom
advancement in North America. Both planters and strategists are interested
in what yields lasting fruit. In 2006 the North American Mission Board
conducted a survey in 2006 to research the factors that enable church plants to
survive and thrive. The study identified the survivability rate for church
plants and those factors that contributed to the early growth of Southern
Baptist church plants. These factors assumed a solid biblical foundation
and reliance upon the power of the Holy Spirit. |
