One new exciting expression in church planting is the explosive growth of cowboy churches (also known as Old West Culture churches) across North America.

These churches are a gathering of people who try to live up to the Code of the West that helped build our great continent. Its meeting place might be a livestock sale barn or a similar not-quite-dust-free setting. The preacher probably wears a cowboy hat even while he brings the message. The congregation's attire ranges from nothing fancy to whatever they were wearing before church time. Cowboy hats and baseball caps come off only during prayers.

Cowboy churches are roping in a segment of the population that is virtually untouched by the traditional church. It is a huge segment—nearly twice as big as any other people group in North America, according to studies of radio audiences.
