Church Planting Process: Readiness

As Jesus interacted with the crowds that followed Him, He taught them to consider the cost of being a Christ-follower.  In our world of instant self-gratification, we often overlook the fact that all good things come from God (James 1).  It's easy to ignore Christ's words, that whoever would gain his life must first lose it (Matthew 16), and hard work and pain are not necessarily bad things (Philippians 3).  We are also to have Christ's mind (Philippians 2) and become like Him (Ephesians 4).

There is a battle--spiritual warfare--that would keep us from becoming active Christ-followerd, as well as seeing lost people through His tears (Ephesians 6).  There are three pieces that must fit together for us to become aware of and responsive to the need to plant new churches.  Only as we hear what God is saying and directing us to do, will we see the people around us through His eyes and have compassion on the lost as He did.  Only when we are willing to divest our lives of self and become servants with the mind of Christ, will we be willing to respond and follow Him into spiritual warfare.  The fruit of "readiness" is reproduction!
