Church Health Survivability and Health
Church planting is an essential part of the fabric of Kingdom advancement in North America. Both planters and strategists are interested in what yields lasting fruit. In 2006 the North American Mission Board conducted a survey in 2006 to research the factors that enable church plants to survive and thrive. The study identified the survivability rate for church plants and those factors that contributed to the early growth of Southern Baptist church plants. These factors assumed a solid biblical foundation and reliance upon the power of the Holy Spirit.

Starting a Healthy Church in North America

Stewardship
A study conducted by NAMB in 2007 to identify the factors that helped a church plant survive beyond five years found that church plants that have a proactive stewardship plan enjoy a 178% greater chance of surviving beyond five years than their non-proactive counterparts. The study also found that enacting a positive plan for engaging new members in stewardship is critical to helping a new congregation become financially independent. [1] Finally, the study demonstrated that stewardship plans need to be in place early on in the life of the church plant in order to promote financial health and independence. Download
